B-Droid

Climate change requires many businesses to prioritize eco-friendly innovations. One such innovation is Bakey’s, an eco-friendly edible cutlery brand which is completely vegan and biodegrades; providing an alternative to plastic cutlery which reduces waste while supporting more eco-conscious living.

Rafal Dakowski designed another sustainable innovation called B-Droid robot, inspired by Star Wars droids but with wheels instead of wings. Also referred to as B-2EMO due to Disney trademark concerns.

The B-Droid can pollinate crops using cameras and algorithms that help it locate flowers, pollinate them and fly among them. It has been tested in greenhouse environments and proven more efficient than natural bees – potentially helping boost natural bee populations while saving our planet in the process.

Pela

Eco-friendly technology accessories have quickly become an emerging area of sustainability in lifestyle. Pela Case provides the world’s first compostable phone case made of starch-based bioplastic and flax shive – offering a better alternative than the millions of plastic cases which end up in landfills each year and contribute to global plastic pollution crisis.

Pela Case offers stylish designs for numerous phone models, and their lightweight cases feel great in your hand. Perfect for anyone wanting to reduce environmental impact while staying connected.

Pela Case, as a Certified B Corporation, is committed to sustainability from start to finish. They participate in 1% for the Planet and contribute money and resources towards organizations working hard to protect oceans. Their supply chain complies with fair trade guidelines while they use Canadian entities for injection molding and engraving services. They utilize traditional hierarchical organizational structures in order to maximize efficiency and streamline decision making processes.

Grove Collaborative

Grove Collaborative provides consumers with eco-friendly household and cleaning products that are both non-toxic and plastic neutral, via its member subscription service. Their replenishment system enables consumers to order as necessary – eliminating the need to run out and buy bottles every few months!

Recently, Seventh Generation announced it has established a Plastic Working Group comprised of third-party brands to share information, collaborate, and develop solutions to plastic pollution. Members include Seventh Generation, Method and Mrs. Meyer’s among many others.

According to a Morning Consult survey, six in ten consumers are worried about the environmental impact of retail. It may be one reason why Grove Collaborative, which went public in 2022, has recently started looking for like-minded natural and eco-friendly product companies to acquire for expansion of its portfolio.

Home and wellness company Nest Home and Wellness is currently the only plastic-neutral retailer that provides an entire line of refillable natural cleaning products for both homes and offices, pet care items, deodorants and other personal hygiene items.

3D printing

Contrasting subtractive manufacturing, which begins as a block of material and cuts it away step-by-step to its finished form, 3D printing creates objects by layering on additional material until its finished form has been reached. This method reduces waste significantly as only what material is necessary is utilized.

Though 3D printers may appear environmentally-friendly, they still discharge fine particles and dangerous fumes during operation that contribute to indoor air pollution and even environmental contamination. Furthermore, industrial systems are costly and energy intensive in their operation.

Recyclebot has pioneered eco-friendly 3D printer technology; for instance, its startup created a machine to convert polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic into 3D printing filaments for 3D printers. Other companies like GreenGate3D, Filamentive and NefilaTek produce recycled filaments like water bottles; 3D Fuel is an innovative company producing biodegradable and recycled filaments such as coffee grounds; they even make one from sheepshead, mussels and oysters!

Solar energy

Sunlight is a limitless source of renewable power that could meet all our global energy demands if harnessed properly. Solar energy utilizes photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight directly to electricity or solar thermal capture systems which heat air or water, producing steam for turbines.

Solar energy offers many advantages over fossil fuels. For one thing, its availability across the world makes it more accessible while producing less pollution and using fewer resources to produce it. Furthermore, solar is one of the lowest water-consuming forms of electricity generation.

Solar energy can be utilized locally to power homes, businesses and schools or on a larger scale at central-station utility-scale solar plants. Furthermore, innovative new technologies including solar + storage systems make integration easy. In some locations solar power already costs less than traditional electricity consumption – not to mention its potential to reduce foreign energy expenditures by helping nations rely less on oil imports from Middle Eastern regions – all key attributes in our quest towards Net Zero emissions!
